2 Second Rule

Give a little

Allow at least a 2 second gap between you and the vehicle in front on roads carrying faster-moving traffic. Double this on wet roads.

Drving rules

As they say ‘Only a Fool Breaks the Two Second Rule!’

It may sound a little silly and difficult to do at times but this is a good rule of thumb to keep to if possible in moving traffic. If a car pulls in front of you, back back a little.

When stationary it doesn’t make sense.

When stationary we would suggest that you give tyres and tarmac: You should be able to see tarmac in front of your car bonnet and then the car in fronts tyres. This gives you enough room to move around if they break down or stop.
